Wenzhou Taichang Harbor Engineering Limited Company is the pioneer in soft ground treatment technology in Wenzhou. The soft ground treatment business in Taichang Group is shared by Taichang Construction Co., Ltd and Wenzhou Taichang Harbor Engineering Co., Ltd. The former is responsible for the spot construction, while the latter offers technical consultation. The majority of the personnel in the Harbor Company have participated in the soft ground testing of the Ou jiangkou District and the Civil Scientific Base in Wenzhou and they are strongly capable of the soft ground treatment. The company now owns two invention patents, namely the “drainage consolidation technology” which saves the installation of drainage channels after work and “rapid consolidation method of soft soil for sea reclamation” Besides cultivating a scientific research team inside the group which is advanced in technology and strong in management, Taichang also actively introduces talents from the outside to enhance its own strength. The company employed Gong Xiaonan, the sole academician from the geotechnical sector of the Chinese Academy of Engineering and set up the first academician work station in the Longwan District. As early as in 2010, together with Department of Civil Engineering from the Transportation College of the Hehai University which takes the lead in this field in China, Taichang carried out a number of scientific research and testing activities along the coastal areas in Wenzhou. Besides, the company also involved in the preparation of the “technical specifications of soft ground treatment for reclamation”, becoming the first private enterprise in China to participate in preparation of such standards. In order to support the development of the local research institutes, the company set up a long-term “Taichang Scholarship” in Wenzhou University and built an internship base for their students.
